When to Repair vs. Replace

In Raleigh Hills, OR, we often see older homes with original ductwork that has degraded over decades.

Repair: If you have a single crushed flex duct or a disconnect caused by a cable guy crawling in the attic, we can perform a targeted repair. We splice in new flex, secure it with tension straps, and seal the connections.
Replace: If the insulation is falling off, the inner liner is shredding, or there is extensive rust/mold, a full replacement is safer and more cost-effective in the long run. We install modern R-8 insulated ducts that meet current building codes.Call (833) 963-1661 to schedule your repair assessment.

Fixing Leaking AC Ducts in Attic

A common issue in Raleigh Hills, OR is water damage from sweating ducts. If the insulation on your ducts is thin or missing, the cold air inside clashes with the hot attic air, causing condensation. This water can drip onto your ceilings, causing stains and mold. We repair these issues by installing properly insulated ductwork and vapor barriers to stop the sweating for good.

The Impact of Critter Damage

Raccoons, squirrels, and rats love nesting in ductwork. They claw through the soft flex duct to create warm homes, leaving behind urine and feces. If you have had a critter infestation, you must replace the damaged sections. We remove the contaminated ducts, sanitize the area, and install fresh, clean ductwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a duct replacement take? A full system replacement in an average Raleigh Hills, OR home typically takes 1 to 2 days. We work efficiently to minimize the time you are without AC/Heat.
Can you add a new vent to a room? Yes. If you have a room renovation or an addition, we can cut into the main plenum and run a new duct line to supply air to that space.
Is metal ductwork better than flex? Metal is more durable for main trunk lines, but modern flex duct is excellent for branch lines if installed correctly (pulled tight with no kinks). We use a hybrid approach for the best results.
Do you insulate the ducts? Yes. All new ductwork we install comes with a thick jacket of fiberglass insulation (usually R-6 or R-8) to keep the air hot or cold until it reaches your room.
Can you fix a noisy return vent? Often, noise is caused by undersized ducts moving too much air (high static pressure). We can enlarge the return duct or add a second return to quiet the system down.
